California Contemporary

Picture
In 2017, we began working with a family that wanted to transform their new house into a contemporary masterpiece. The image above shows the house after an extensive exterior renovation. Below are two photos that show you the state of the house at purchase.

The house was not visible from the street due to a large number of invasive trees crowding the front yard. The home was hidden and isolated from the surrounding neighborhood. As you drove onto the property, ornamental trees obscured the view of the house as well.
The new owners wanted to more open feeling to emerge from the house with a new landscape and facade design. The photo below shows how we removed the trees in front of the home and reimagined it as a plaza-like space complete with pavers, deck, lighting and plantings.

The aerial view below shows how the front yard was changed. To the right of the image, you can see the new plantings reach out into the yard to from a eco-habitat where water and flora create a unique setting. All of the materials and plants used for the project are sustainable. The wood is sustainably forested, all plants are native and lighting uses LED technology.
