You absolutely need the right pants to be both comfy and protected during gardening.  When I say protected, I mean like from mosquitoes or the happenstance of coming face-to-face with a very scared and mouthy chipmunk.  Coziness and safety has to be shared with style, though.  Just because there’s a chance of getting dirty doesn’t mean dumpy is the ideal direction for attire. This is true for the pants you wear gardening as much as it is true for yoga or running or even office pants.  To help you give the gift of garment for gardening, I’ve selected a few brands that run the gamut of cost as well as looks.  The goal is the same for all of them: give a gift that makes your loved one look great whenever outdoors.

Let’s talk jeans first. Italy has fine tailor suits. The Scots have kilts and denim is an American iconoclast.  It’s had a huge rebirth over the last decade too with tons of new and old companies revamping blue jeans into denim.  Jeans are always durable, though some brands are more durable and more sustainable than others.  They range from affordable to omfg expensive.
Women Jeans

washed denim from imogene + willie
Of all the brands out there, imogene + willie has a great washed denim that is ideal for getting out into the yard and getting your hands dirty.

Surry - Fossil by Raleigh Denim Workshop
If washed jeans aren't your gardener's thing, you could give them a pair of Raleigh Denim Workshop's Surry-Fossil jeans.  They are not the traditional blue most associate with jeans, but they have a great fit, AND they are made in Raleigh, NC.  You get a little southern hospitality peppered in.

Karlie in Eden by Baldwin
The last demin to consider is Baldwin.  The brand is on the more expensive spectrum for jeans, but their Karlie in Eden pant is ideal for some light effort in the garden or, maybe, even in your backyard greenhouse.
Men's Denim
Let’s be honest, men hardly get as much attention when it comes to style. However, when it comes to denim, dudes get lots of love. Below are three brands that any gardener would love to wear.

Freenote has a jean called Trabuco that is a straight leg indgio Japanese denim pant.  It's roomy enough to freely move about when digging holes but tight enough to not look like a throughback to 1998.

Another brand of denim comes from Bluer Denim.  This is truly an all-around local company.  They pread out the jean's production from Georgia to North Carolina to Portland, Or and LA.  Check out their Classic Straight pant for that, well, classic look.

Coveralls
I can't cover every jean that's great for outdoor activity.  But I can't help but recommend one pair of coveralls by Handyma'am Goods.S

The coveralls are totally not for everyone, but Handyma'am has designed an incredible option that, I hope, is a huge success.

Don’t forget, there is power in your purchase decisions!  All of the clothing shown in this gift guide are made in the US.  If you really want show people how to make America great again, buy from local designers and makers.
