As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, interior landscape design is forecasted to be a huge trend in 2017. So staying gifts that can give your gardenista a head start with the hottest styles, I’ve assembled ideas for small, medium and large planters that can go inside or out.
Planters, formerly known as planting pots or boxes, are pretty straightforward elements.  They are containers that let you grow plants anywhere you want.  All that is really required is to water them and give them the right amount of light (be it, natural or artificial). Where in the past planting pots and boxes were made from ceramic or terracotta and had a common shape that was highlighted the plants.  Planters have evolved during the last several years, and now use materials and shapes that make them as interesting as whatever is growing in them.

Two of my favorite materials for planters are Corten Steel and concrete.  Corten steel develops a patina of rust that makes it look vintage and contemporary all at once.  Concrete is just kinda awesome.

Small is Awesome
For interior landscape design, small can be all you need.  Below are a few itty bitty planters to alter your gardenista’s indoor reality

This first planter isn’t a planter at all.  It is suppose to be a pencil holder, but the concrete material and its shape just kinda asks to be repurposed as a place add a little life.

This is another concrete planter option with a bit of color to it.  It’s definitely small, but for the price, it’s a great find.  Made by BetonDeko, it’s only one of many within the collection.
LIttle Bit Bigger Now
From the small to the medium, the options grow exponentially.  The medium range of planters offers more artistic flare along with a wider variety of materials.

The planter above made by Planterworx’s Home Collection is, perhaps one of my top three favorite planters.  It’s made of Corten Steel and has a shape that makes it just as interesting as whatever is growing inside it.

Another medium option is a set of three eco-concrete planters from My Sprit Garden.

The last medium planter I think would make a great present is the Aurelie Round Pot Planter by Lark Manor.  The way it’s made and shaped helps it sit in that middle ground between contemporary and vintage, or even a hint of ancient.
Big Time
The bigger planters are always more versatile and can be used in or outdoors.  If you select interior planters that match exterior planters, it can really enliven and blend an entire house or office.

Veradek is an easy-to-find brand for large planters, especially their Long Box Metallic Series.  I’ve designed several patio and deck areas that incorporated this line of planters.  They are easy to install and are very stylish.

Along with concrete and steel, reclaimed wood is super hot right now.  People are using it to decorate interior walls as well as reclad houses.  This wooden planter by Planters Unlimited captures the beauty and sustainable features of reusing wood.  Of course, you’ll need a big budget to purchase it.
