It's the first official day of spring and things are definitely heating up in my studio. We have lots of really exciting residential projects going on as well as a few other types. One project that I'm super excited about is a stream side and habitat restoration project. It's very, very early in the process, so I can't even say 100% that we will be able to do it. But I'm excited none-the-less. The project entails restoring a piece of land on the border of South Orange and Maplewood, NJ. I did a video about the project, and you can watch it through the break below, or going to my company's Youtube page.
Lots of people are talking about how bad of shape the planet is in, but there is hope in making things better. Everyone has the potential of offering help to the natural world. I started (co-started) chambersdesign to help people live more sustainably and in harmony with nature. Most of my clients are residential, and it's always so much fun to show people the ways that ecological design can translate into beautiful contemporary spaces.
That said, I do a tremendous amount of work with local groups to restore the environment. The video above talks about a project we are currently seeking funding to start and complete this year.

People Make Things Better
Over the last three to four years, I've been part of several projects that aimed to restore nature within highly developed places. The amazing thing about these projects is that they bring people together while providing solutions. We always have folks from all ages and backgrounds volunteer, and they couldn't get done without them. One of my goals for my company is to create communities around the love of nature. I do lots of design work to help these projects become reality, and it has shown me that design matters. I work with lots of people to select the best plants for the spaces, to layout the different elements of a project for the biggest impact and to generate ideas for how others may experience the spaces after we are done.

As things progress, I will try to update this blog with info.
